FAQ

Answers about Cavapoos, our breeding program, go-home, and worldwide shipping—so you can feel confident before you apply.

What is a Cavapoo?

A Cavapoo (also called a Cavoodle) is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle—most often a Mini or Toy Poodle. They’re known for affectionate temperaments, intelligence, and soft, often low-shedding coats that suit many family homes.

How big do Cavapoos get?

Adult size varies with genetics and the Poodle parent. Many Northhaven Cavapoos mature roughly in the small-companion range (often about 12–25 lbs), though each puppy’s expected size is discussed when you’re matched. We’ll share parent sizes and litter estimates so you know what to expect.

What is a Cavapoo’s temperament like?

Cavapoos are typically people-oriented, gentle, and eager to please. They thrive on companionship and do well with families who can offer daily interaction, basic training, and a calm, consistent routine. Early socialization—something we begin at home—helps them grow into confident companions.

Do Cavapoos shed? Are they hypoallergenic?

Coat type varies (from wavy to curlier). Many families choose Cavapoos for lighter shedding than many double-coated breeds, but no dog is 100% hypoallergenic. Regular brushing and professional grooming help keep the coat healthy. If allergies are a concern, we recommend spending time with similar coats before deciding.

How much grooming and exercise do they need?

Expect routine brushing and periodic grooming to prevent mats. Exercise needs are usually moderate—daily walks, play, and mental stimulation (training games, enrichment) keep them happy without requiring high-intensity sport.

Are Cavapoos good with children and other pets?

When well socialized, Cavapoos often do beautifully with respectful children and can live alongside other pets. We raise puppies underfoot with everyday family life and sounds. Every household is different—tell us about kids, ages, and existing pets on your application so we can help with a thoughtful match.

Do you health test your parent dogs?

Yes. All breeding parents are health screened for conditions relevant to Cavalier and Poodle lines, and we share results with approved families. Puppies also receive age-appropriate veterinary care before go-home.

When will the next litter be available?

We plan litters thoughtfully throughout the year. Join our waitlist on the Waitlist & Adoption page and we’ll notify you as soon as a matching puppy is expected.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. We ship worldwide and also offer local pickup. On your application, choose Delivery or Pickup and share any travel notes. International and long-distance arrangements are planned carefully for the puppy’s comfort and safety—timing, carriers, and paperwork are confirmed after you’re approved and matched.

How does delivery vs. pickup work?

Pickup is arranged for approved families at go-home. Delivery (including domestic and international shipping) is coordinated case by case. We’ll discuss options, estimated costs where applicable, and the best schedule once your reservation is in place.

How does the application and deposit process work?

After we review your application, approved families reserve a puppy with an $800 reservation fee before adoption. A reservation is required before any adoption is finalized. The reservation is applied toward the $1,200 puppy cost, with the remaining balance due at go-home. To join the waitlist for a future litter, there is a $300 waitlist fee. Preferred payment methods include Apple Pay, Zelle, and Chime.

How much do your puppies cost?

Our puppy cost is $1,200. To reserve a specific puppy before adoption, the reservation fee is $800 (applied toward the total). The waitlist fee is $300 if you’re planning ahead for a future litter. Shipping or delivery fees, if any, are discussed separately based on destination.

Do I have to reserve before adopting?

Yes. Before adopting, you must complete an application and pay the $800 reservation fee to secure your puppy. Adoption cannot be finalized without a reservation.

At what age do puppies go home?

Puppies typically go home around eight weeks of age, once they’ve had their first veterinary wellness check, age-appropriate vaccines, and are confidently eating independently. Delivery schedules are aligned with that readiness.

What is included with my puppy?

Each puppy leaves with a health record packet, microchip information, a starter supply of food, and our commitment to lifetime support for questions about care, training, and settling in.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Yes. We stand behind the health of our puppies with a written congenital health guarantee covering specified conditions for a defined period. Review and download the full Purchase & Health Guarantee Contract (PDF). A signed copy is provided with every placement.

Can I visit the puppies?

Visits are arranged for approved families at carefully chosen stages, so litters stay calm and protected. We’ll guide you on the best timing once you’ve been matched. Families who live farther away often meet at pickup or coordinate delivery after approval.
